The type species (holotype) of the genus Hantzschia is Hantzschia amphioxys (Ehrenberg) Grunow.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Hantzschia leptocephala (Østrup) Lange-Bertalot & Metzeltin.
