Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Leptocylindrus is Leptocylindrus danicus Cleve.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tenuicylindrus belgicus (Meunier) D.Nanjappa & A.Zingone.
Type Information
Type locality: S. North Sea (Mer Flamande); (Index Nominum Algarum) Holotype: Pl. XII, fig.4 in Meunier (1915): see below (epitype) (Nanjappa et al. 2013: 926) Notes: Epitype: Strain SZN-B739, fig.7, A-J, collected on 2 December 2010 at the LTER-MC station in the GoN (40.80ºN, 14.25ºE). A permanent slide has been deposited at the SZM Museum as slide no. SZN-B739-01 (Nanjappa et al. 2013: 926).
