This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Skeletonema costatum (Greville) Cleve
Type locality: Hong Kong Bay (Zingone & al. 2005: 143). Holotype: Fig. 4, B, D, F and G (epitype) NHM (Greville collection) Slide BM 4501 (Zingone & al. 2005: 143). Notes: Lectotype: MF coordinates 26/31 in slide BM 4501. NHM =BM.
