Type locality: Gave d'Ossau River, Pyrenees, France (Potapova & Ponader 2004: 44, 45, fig. 50). Type (fide Simonsen, 1987: 248-249): BRM Coll. Hustedt 397/18 (Index Nominum Algarum Notes: River Gave d'Ossau and in the vicinity of a spring at Lac d'Artouse, French Pyrenees. Potapova & Ponader (2004: 44, 45) note that Lange-Bertlot & Ruppel (198) considered Lac d'Artouste as the type locality but following Simonsen (1987) they consider the slide 397/18 (fron Gave d'Ossau) to be the type slide (type material BRM E 809, isotype slide ANSP GC 14440.
