The type species (lectotype) of the genus Amphiprora is Amphiprora constricta Ehrenberg.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Plagiotropis delicatula (Greville) T.B.B.Paddock.

Type locality: "Hab. — Woodlark Island ; in a dredging communicated by Dr Roberts. Not uncommon." [Papua New Guinea]; (Index Nominum Algarum) Type: Roberts; 1863; BM; Slides 2717, 2719 (Williams 1988: 5) Notes: Syntypes fide D.M. Williams (1988: 5).
