The type species (holotype) of the genus Leptophytum is Leptophytum laeve W.H.Adey.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Phymatolithon foveatum (Y.M.Chamberlain & Keats) Maneveldt & E.Van der Merwe.
