Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Rhodophyllis is Rhodophyllis bifida (J.V.Lamouroux) Kützing.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Fimbrifolium capillare (Tokida) Perestenko.

Gabrielson, Widdowson & Lindstrom (2006: 139) mantain this as a separate species, but in a footnote they note Perestenko's (1994) inclusion of the entity in Fimbrifolium spinulosum (Ruprecht) Perestenko). - (24 August 2006) - G.M. Guiry
