Taxonomic note
Kylin (1956) was of the opinion that Sebdenia yamadae could represent a species of the red algal genus Sarcodia J. Agardh. N'Yeurt (2001) examined Japanese material of S. yamadae held in SAP and found zonate tetrasporangia, concluding it did not belong in the Sebdeniaceae. - (08 June 2006)
