The name Nitzschia delicatula was occupied (Skovortzow 1946) and thus the name Nitschia pseudodelicatissima Hasle was proposed (Hasle & Mendiola 1967) and validated by designation of a holotype from 60º18'N, 31º00'W, 24 May 1898 (Hasle 1976) (Lundholm et al. 2003). - (27 Apr 2012) - Wendy Guiry
