Type locality: Drobak, Oslofhord, Norway (Hasle 1974: 426). Holotype : G.R.H.; 2 October 1962; Univ. Oslo 2 marked specimens on IMBB slide no. 16 (Hasle 1974: 426). Notes: W7, 72b, B.M. 77894.

Origin of species name
Participle B (Latin), sharp-pointed, pricking, piercing, terminating in a hard sharp point (Stearn 1973).
