The type species (lectotype) of the genus Rhaphoneis is Rhaphoneis amphiceros (Ehrenberg) Ehrenberg.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Koizumia tatsunokuchiensis (I.Koizumi) Y.Yanagisawa.
