Nomenclatural note
Athough this seems to be a later homonym of Polysiphonia bicornis Sonder, a description was not provided by Sonder (1880: 35); the name as subsequently used validly by Ohta (1973) for an alga from Japan (Silva et al., 1996: 537) is thus legitimate. - (26 July 2011) - M.D. Guiry
