Taxonomic note
"Morphologically close to Chara australis and treated as a subspecies of that taxon by Nordstedt (1883) and as a variety of C. australis by Zaneveld (1940). Examination of the type material revealed some expression of stipulodes and bract cells, but the material is dioecious and male, and so oospores could not be examined. Further collections are needed to determine generic placement and taxonomic status." (Casanova 2013: 288). - (02 April 2024)
