The type species (holotype) of the genus Fauchea is Fauchea repens (C.Agardh) Montagne & Bory.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gloiocladia galapagensis (W.R.Taylor) N.Sánchez & Rodríguez-Prieto.

Española, no 34-413 (spermatangial), 31 Jan. 1934 (Taylor, 1945).
