Type locality: upper Otey's rapids, Morgan's Creek, Chapel Hill, North Carolina (Vis & Sheath 1992: 165). Lectotype: G. F. Atkinson [C.M.P. no. 444 determined by C. Mervin Palmer]; January 28, 1888; BH (Vis & Sheath 1992: 165). Notes: Broad River, Columbia, South Carolina; LT= Morgan's Creek, N.C. fide Atkinson, 1931 (INA).
