The type species (holotype) of the genus Bellerochea is Bellerochea malleus (Brightwell) Van Heurck.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Minutocellus polymorphus (Hargraves & Guillard) Hasle, Stosch, & Syvertsen.

Adjective A (Latin), polymorphous, polymorphic; variable in form (Brown 1954).
