This name is of an entity that is currently accepted taxonomically.
Syntype localities: "Obtained first from mud with a variety of interesting flagellates, sent to me by Prof. T. M. Harris, University of Reading. In the enrichment cultures it occurred together with Rhabdomonas costata and Astasia Harrisii. ... (Other strains were found in a garden pool in Cambridge and in a ditch at Cherry Hinton near Cambridge." [Presumably all syntype localities are in England] (Pringsheim 1942: 182).
