Type locality: Germany: Würzburg (Index Nominum Algarum). Type: Leiblein; (Index Nominum Algarum Notes: According to Necchi & Zucchi ((1995), the type is in the Kützing collection, L unnumbered (Lectotype, designated by Necchi et al., 1993).
