Nomenclatural note
Invalid. Garbary (1187: 138) refers to "Ceramium roseolum Crouan In Desmazières". This is Desmazières' Plantes Cryptogames de France No. 1040 with a reference to Ceramium roseolum C.Agardh. Nageli (1861: 405) attempted a tranfer to Acrochaetium [as "A. roseolum (Crouan)"]. Crouan & Crouan (1867: 134) included a reference to the Desmazières specimen under Callithamnion daviesii, now Acrochaetium daviesii. The designation "Ceramium roseolum Crouan" does not exist and Nägeli's name is thus not valid, and Garbary (1987) did not inadvertently validate any of the names. - (03 May 2024) - M.D. Guiry
