This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Wetherbeella.

Type locality: Encounter Bay, South Australia (Womersley & Kraft 1994: 285). Type: Womersley; 1 February 1976; AD A46962 (Womersley & Kraft 1994: 285). Notes: Womersley & Kraft (1994: 285) note that the type material was found in drift.
