This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Aphanizomenon klebahnii (Elenkin) Pechar & Kalina ex Komárek & Komárková.
Type locality: Russian Federation, vicinity of Moskva city, Mikhailovskoe village, in ponds.; (Elenkin 1909: 147, 151)
