Basionym
Millepora fasciculata Lamarck
Type information
Type locality: Unknown, probably Mediterranean (Woelkerling 1998: 268). Neolectotype: PC the smaller of two plants (Basso, Rodondi & Mari 2004: 222). Notes: According to Basso et al. (2004: 222), the original collection of Millepora fasciculata in PC is heterogeneous, and therefore a previous lectotypification proposed by Woelkerling (in Woelkerling & Lamy, 1998: 268) must be superseded. The smaller of the two plants, which belongs to an undescribed species of Clathromorphum, is selected as the new lectotype. The larger plant in the collection belongs to a species of Lithothamnion. The new lectotype has been illustrated by Woelkerling (in Woelkerling & Lamy 1998: 267, fig. 113 A, specimen on right; fig. 114 A) and its anatomy is also shown in Basso et al. 2004: Figs 13-17.
