Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chlorochytrium lemnae Cohn.

Nomenclatural note
West (1904: 198) remarked "The genus Stomatochytrium Cunningham (1888) differs from Chlorochytrium mainly in the absence of the vesicle which surrounds the gametes in the latter genus. This feature can scarcely be regarded as a generic difference." but did not make a ne combination for the species. - (21 June 2016) - M.D. Guiry
