The type species (lectotype) of the genus Phycoseris is Phycoseris rigida (C.Agardh) Kützing.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ulva rigida f. capensis (Grunow) J.Agardh.

Adjective B (Latin), pertaining to the Cape, usually the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa.
