Syntype localities: "... developed under favorable living conditions in the Sea of Japan and the Tatar Strait, at a depth of 6-35 m. Ussuri Bay (TNPS), about. Askold at Cape Stupench: atogo, (Schmidt); Vladimir Bay, near Vatovsky Cape (Tar.); Cape Sosunova, Gilyak (TONS)." [Grows in the subtidal and intertidal zones on the rocky substrate, at depths of 6-35 m. Ussuri Bay (Pacific Research and Commercial Station), Askold Island near Stupenchaty Cape (Schmidt), Vladimira Bight near Vatovsky Cape (Tar[asov]), Sosunova and Gilyak capes (Pacific Research and Commercial Station)]” (Sinova 1940: 94-5).
