The type species (holotype) of the genus Navicula is Navicula tripunctata (O.F.Müller) Bory.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Scoliopleura dissimilis (W.Smith) Rabenhorst.

Pyrennées: Mt. Pechineya near Cautere; lac de Gaube; cascade near St. Sauver.;
