SZCZ 17497 (Dabek et al. 2017: 349) Notes: Isotype: slide no. BM 101688. Collector: P. Dabek, A. Witowski, C. Archibald (16.ii. 2011) (INA). [Clonal culture and DNA isolation were obtained from sample taken near rocky outcrops (32°5.179' S, 18°18.70'E), containing sand from the intertidal sand flat, collected by PD and TGB (21/5/2015)].

Taxonomic note
According to Dabek et al. (2017), phylogenetic results have lead them to re-evaluate the taxonomy of L. africana, which is sister to Cymatosira lorenziana rather than Minutocellus as suggested in the original description. - (25 May 2017) - G.M. Guiry
