Holotype locality: west side off the lighthouse,Susa, Libya (Orellana, Hernández & Sansón 2019: 459). Holotype: M. Nizamuddin; 22.2.1983; growing in mid-littoral zone and sandstones exposed to rough conditions. Mus. Bot. Berol. 32143

Taxonomic notes
"Nizamuddin (1985) described this species as caespitose. However, we agree with Cormaci et al. (1992) and Alongi et al. (1999) in considering it as pseudocaspitose in having a short cauloid that early produces some secondary cauloids." (Cormaci et al. 2012: 366). - (26 Aug 2015) - M.D. Guiry

Undisturbed and pristine site; in upper sublittoral zone (1 m depth), epilithic on rocky semi-exposed shore, associated with Ceramium spp., Cystoseira compressa, Haliptilon virgatum and Osmundea sp. (Tsiamis et al. 2010). - (29 Apr 2011) - Wendy Guiry
