Syntype localities: France (Le Croisic, Loire-Atlantique; Hérault: l'étang de Thau and l'étang de la Nouvelle); (Huber 1893: 326) Lectotype: Huber (1893: pl. XV: figs 1-9): see below (epitype) (Burrows 1991: 108) Notes: Syntypes from Brittany: Croisic (in Chaetomorpha) and Hérault: l'étang de Thau (on Cladophora and Chaetomorpha linum), l'étang de la Nouvelle (on the wall of Ceramium diaphanum); Burrows, in selecting a lectotype, does not narrow localities to one. Epitype (designated by Nielsen, O'Kelly & Wysor in Nielsen et al., 2013: 51): dried material of strain RN041878 maintained as CAT 2439 in C.
