Nomenclatural note
When Rodriguez-Prieto et al. (2007: 160) transferred Fauchea microspora Bornet ex Rodriguez & Femenias to Gloiocladia microspora (Bornet ex Rodriguez & Femenias) Sanchez & Rodriguez-Prieto they gave the incorrect place and date of publication of the basionym (Index Nominum Algarum), and thus their proposed combination is invalid. P.C. Silva in an e-mail dated 26 March 2011 writes "The combination Gloiocladia microspora (Bornet ex Rodríguez y Femenías) N. Sánchez & C. Rodríguez-Prieto (2007) would be validly published if the incomplete citation of the basionym could be considered a correctable error, specifically, in conformity with Art. 33.7(a). In the alleged place of publication of the basionym, however, Bornet (1890) cited Rodríguez y Femenías (1889), a reference that the combining authors should have cited. The combination was validly, but inadvertently published in a paper by Berecibar et al. (Bot. Mar. 52: 225. 2009)." - (05 August 2010) - G.M. Guiry
