Type locality: "Vor Syracus. Oktober bis Mai" [Off Syracuse, Ionian coast of Sicily, Italy; May to October]; (Lohmann 1902: 130) Notes: "Lectotype: Lohmann 1902 p. 130, pl. 4 Figs. 1–6, pl. 6 Fig. 69 [19]. Holotype: Type specimen represented by metabolically inactivated strain RCC1853 cryopreserved at the Roscoff Culture Collection (RCC; roscoff-culture-collection.org). Note: corresponds to isolate collected in the Ionian Sea, which is the type habitat of the original observation." (Bendig & al. 2023: 637)."
