Distributional note
"In Europe Chara globata is known from Croatia, North Macedonia, Romania, Ukraine, and Russia (Barinova et al., 2014; Hollerbach and Krassavina, 1983; Holler-bach and Palamar-Mordvintseva, 1991; Romanov, 2019; Romanov et al., 2015; Romanov et al. unpubl. data). Approximately 20 European sites were found in the Adriatic Coast, Lake Ohrid, the west and north-east of the Black Sea Region, Crimea, the eastern steppe region of Ukraine, North Caucasus and Lower Volga delta. Its whole distribution range covers semiarid and arid regions of Eurasia and North Africa (most records were discovered or confirmed via examination of individual specimens by R. Romanov) - eastern and southern Europe, Middle East (Israel and Iran), Caucasus (Lake Sevan, Lchashenskaya Cove, 07 October 2006, A. A. Bobrov, det. R. Romanov, IBIW: 54128; Romanov et al., 2023), West Siberia, south of Yenisey Siberia, China, Central Asia, with majority of localities from the last region (Hollerbach and Krassavina, 1983; Noedoost et al., 2015; Romanov, 2019, unpubl.; Romanov and Abdullin, 2018; Romanov et al., 2015, 2018, 2022; Saber et al., 2021; Shoyakubov, 1979). The species could be found in Turkey, Afghanistan and Mongolia. C. globata was not found in the West Mediterranean region, except for Tunisia, despite a targeted search (own data, collections in B, BCN, COI, H, LE, LISU, MA, W)."
