Taxonomic notes
Opinions vary on the status of this entity. According to Cormaci, Furnari & Alongi (2014: 211): "Børgesen (1911: 147) reduced B. pennata to a variety of B. plumosa, as B. plumosa var. pennata (J.V. Lamouroux) Børgesen, thinking that its characteristics depended on warm temperature of tropical waters. Ballesteros (1990, note no. 82) considers it as conspecific with B. plumosa. - (10 Jul 2015) - M.D. Guiry
