The type species (lectotype) of the genus Ochromonas is Ochromonas triangulata Vysotskii.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Melkoniania moestrupii (R.A.Andersen) R.A.Andersen.

plastic TEM block RAA-604 deposited in the New York Botanical
Garden, New York, United States. GenBank Accession
numbers U42382 (nuclear SSU rRNA) and EF165174 (plastid
encoded rbcL gene) provide molecular characters."
