Lectotype locality: Väderöarna, Kristineberg, Halland (Athanasiadis 1996: 19). Lectotype: the original illustration of Kylin (1906, fig. 9), in the absence of material. (epitype) (Dixon & Irvine 1977: 105). Notes: "Bohuslän: Väderöarne, Kristineberg; Halland: Fjordskär, Varberg (spärlich-allgemein)." (Kylin 1906: 124).
Origin of species name
Adjective A (Latin), very small (Stearn 1973).

Garbary (1987: 133) lists this species as a currently accepted name. Lawson & John (1987: 157) make the following remarks: "This species is possibly no more than a small form of Audouinella hallandica (Woelkerling, pers. comm.)."
