Nomenclatural note
The supposed basionym, Delesseria fimbriata Bachelot de la Pylaie ex J. Agardh, is illegitimate, as it is a later homonym of Delesseria fimbriata J.V. Lamouroux and thus cannot be used. The earliest legitimate name appears to be Membranoptera fimbriata Kuntze (M.J. Wynne, pers. comm., 14 October 2009). The type is from Newfoundland (the lectotype of Delesseria fimbriata Bachelot de la Pylaie ex J. Agardh, 1852, nom. illeg.). - (14 October 2009) - M.D. Guiry
