The type species (holotype) of the genus Acrosorium is Acrosorium aglaophylloides Zanardini ex Kützing.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cryptopleura ramosa (Hudson) L.Newton.

Wynne (1989) regarded this entity as a protrate form of Cryptopleura ramosa (see also Maggs & Hommersand, 1993: 254-255); many literature records refer, however, to Acrosorium venulosum. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
