Nomenclatural note
This name was originally introduced by Bae & Lee (2001: 230), but they did not validate it correctly citing the place of publication of replaced name rather than that of the basionym. Invalid: "Dangeard (1951) described the new species Ulva olivacea, but this name was illegitimate because it was a later homonym of Ulva olivacea Hornemann (1810). Later, Dangeard (1961a, footnote on pag. 22) proposed the name Ulva olivascens as a replacement name; however, that name was also invalid because of Art. 41.5 of the Melbourne Code (McNeill et al. 2012). Assuming that Ulva olivascens was valid, Bae & Lee (2001) transferred the species to Umbraulva, but again without indicating the page of the publication of the purported basionym. Furnari (in Catra et al. 2006) re-proposed Umbraulva olivascens, but still invalidly, since he failed to recognize that the basionym was invalid." (Wynne & Furnari 2014: 518). - (07 May 2013) - M.D. Guiry
