Nomenclatural note
Invalid when first published as no type was designated; validated by Tuji (2007) by the selection of a lectotype; but the validated name was rendered illegitimate by the inclusion of Cymbella subturgidula K. Krammer, 2002, in synonymy. The outcome is that the latter name now has priority if the synonymy is accepted. - (25 November 2015) - M.D. Guiry
