The type species (lectotype) of the genus Peyssonnelia is Peyssonnelia squamaria (S.G.Gmelin) Decaisne ex J.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Agissea distenta (Harvey) Pestana, Lyra. Cassano & J.M.C. Nunes.
