Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Astasia is Astasia limpida Dujardin.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Khawkinea ocellata (Khawkine) T.L.Jahn & McKibben.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), marked with two-coloured spots, having the centre of one colour surrounded by a broad ring of another (Stearn 1973).
