The copyright owners of the pictures and information on this site agree to single not-for-profit use in lectures, lecture notes, and seminars, provided the embossing on the pictures is not removed andf the pictures are not cropped. Any use other than one which follows this stipulation is in breach of the copyright owner's rights.

All other use, including all commercial use and all use in web sites, whether public or private, is subject to copyright law worldwide and contact should be made with me (mike.guiry@nuigalway.ie) prior to any such use. Unfortunately, I can no longer grant permission for images that are not my copyright. If you need to use these pictures you will have to contact the copyright owners directly.

For pictures cor which I am the copyright owner, larger formats are generally available for such use: 2-10 Mb for jpegs; 5-28 Mb for tiffs; most recent images are more than 3000 x 2000 pixels wide, and at 300 dpi or better.

Price guide

I am happy to quote for your use of my copyrighted pictures: email me a description of how you are going to use my material and I will quote a price by return. Other photographers' pictures may be available directly from them.

Here are some guide prices for common uses of my images.

• Use in Editorial Print: Reproduction Rights fees start at €50 per image with a single handling fee of €25. We are happy to quote for you to use as many images as you wish in an item of print.
• Use in commercial audio-visual presentation: For supplying images suitable for digital presentations prices are €50 per image.
• Advertising: Prices are negotiated on an individual basis and depend on circulation and exclusivity.
• Use on Websites: €25 for 12 months on your site for the first image, with appropriate reductions thereafter, but a handling fee of €25 applies.
• Other Uses: We are happy to quote for your requirements.

All payments received for images are used entirely to support the site via a donation to AlgaeBase and are thus tax-exempt and sales-tax free. Payment must be in Euros, preferably to our PayPal account, to reduce bank charges.
