Abstract:
A new species of Helminthora, H. lindaueri, based on material from New Zealand, is described. The plant is small, attaining a height of only 3 cm., and it is dioecious. Clusters of spermatangia are formed on a series of terminal cells of the assimilatory filaments instead of from the terminal cell alone as in the other species in which the spermatangia have been studied. The carpogonia are borne laterally and are usually four-celled. The post-fertilization stages agree with those described for other species.
