Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to document new records from Arkansas and to revise and update nomenclature to reflect current taxonomic understanding for previously recorded algae. There are a total of 1387 species: 386 Bacillariophyta (327 Bacillariophyceae, 17 Coscinodiscophyceae, 42 Fragilariophyceae), 337 Cyanoprokaryota, 212 Charophyta (1 Charophyceae, 1 Klebsormidiophyceae, 303 Zygnematophyceae), 143 Chlorophyta (126 Chlorophyceae, 4 Prasinophyceae, 2 Trebouxiophyceae, 11 Ulvophyceae), 101 Heterokontophyta (40 Chrysophyceae, 3 Eustigmatophyceae, 7 Paraphysomonadaceae, 1 Raphidophyceae, 27 Synurophyceae, 23 Xanthophyceae), 69 Euglenophyceae, 7 Rhodophyta (1 Stylonematophyceae, 1 Compsopogonophyceae, 5 Florideophyceae), 12 Cryptophyceae, 19 Dinophyceae, and 8 Haptophyceae (5 Pavlovophyceae, 3 Prymnesiophyceae) and 707 new records to the state of Arkansas.
