Notes:
A number of Mallomonas species found in samples from a variety of freshwater habitats in Alaska are identified by electron microscope studies of their scales and bristles. Notes on their ecology are given. One of the species described by Takahashi (1961) as species No. 24 has been named M. actinoloma n.sp.
The contribution by Eiji Takahashi comprises Latin diagnoses for three species (M. actinoloma, M. eoa, M. grata) of which descriptions without Latin diagnoses have been published earlier by Takahashi (1961, 1963). Notes on the habitats in Japan are given.
