Description: Noncalcareous, somewhat mucilaginous crust. Basal layer monostromatic, of branched, radiating filaments, each cell giving rise to one or two cells that form coherent, short, mostly unbranched erect filaments. Cell fusions and rhizoids absent. Female and male reproductive structures undescribed. Tetrasporangia in sori: cruciate, attached basally, terminal on erect filaments; sterile filaments absent. Spore germination: diprotocellular type. Tetraspores growing into gametophytes of Atractophora hypnoides Crouan et Crouan (Maggs et al., 1983).
