Description: Prostrate, dorsiventral polysiphonous thalli with few, simple erect, endogenously formed branchlets. Unicellular rhizoids, 4 pericentral cells, ecorticate; trichoblasts absent or spirally arranged, only on erect branchlets, with few branches. Branching irregular, without regular number of segments between them. Gametophytes unknown. Tetrasporangia 2 per segment, in straight series in distal ends of erect branches.

Taxonomic status: This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Oligocladella.

Most recent taxonomic treatment adopted: Silva, P.C., Basson, P.W. & Moe, R.L. (1996). Catalogue of the benthic marine algae of the Indian Ocean. University of California Publications in Botany 79: [i]-xiv, 1-1259.

Comments: Known only from Timor, Indonesia, and Coetivy Reef, near the Seychelles Islands; epiphytic on coralline crusts and other algae. Not reported since the original description.
