Sporocladus Kuckuck, 1897

Holotype species: Sporocladus fragilis Kuckuck

Description: Short, uniseriate, little branched filaments. Vegetative cells with parietal chloroplast with few perforations. Sporangia develop from club-shaped lateral or apical cells. Quadriflagellate zoospores escape after dissolution of the upper sporangia wall. Only recorded among other small algae on rocks in the littoral of Heligoland, North Atlantic.
