Taxonomic status: This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Rhodomela.
Gender: This genus name is currently treated as neuter.
Taxonomic note
Two species were included by J. Agardh: A. cladostephus J.Agardh and A. laxum J.Agardh, both of which are probably referable to Rhodomela; J. Agardh (1868) subsequently referred the former to Rhodomela. - (27 March 2012) - M.D. Guiry
