Nomenclatural note
Grateloupia C.Agardh, 1822 (Nov.) is lectotypified by G. filicina and is currently a member of the Halymeniaceae; Grateloupia Bonnemaison, 1822 (April) is typified by Conferva arbuscula, now considered a synonym of Aglaothamnion sepositium, currently a member of the Ceramiaceae. Grateloupia C.Agardh, however, is a conserved name and is thus conserved against all earlier homonyms.

Taxonomic note
According to ING and INA, the type Conferva arbuscula is referable to Callithamnion. However, according to Maggs & Hommersand (1993: 113, 114), it is a synonym of Aglaothamnion sepositum. - (20 October 2010) - G.M. Guiry
